So I love to check Sasha Souza's blog. She is a wonderful event planner in the city. Yesterday she added an article to CNNMoney.com about the most stressful jobs that don't pay well. Shocker, Event Planner is #2! It doesn't surprise me a bit. I absolutely love my job and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but I do have to say I have so many more gray hairs since I've started my business. My hair dresser can attest to this. Per this article, event coordinator comes in second to Social Worker. I believe it. :)

And what a horrible story about the poor elephant. I do have to say I have had to deal with similar situations at my weddings as well. In this business you see it all and you have to be prepared for the worst. I don't think any wedding is perfect but it can always be made perfect for everyone attending the wedding with proper planning and quick problem solving skills!

There are so many kinds of wedding dresses out there and there is a perfect one for every bride. There is also the dress that is the most unflattering tent-like dress that will make you look like you got it from Home Depot. Not all dresses work for every body type. If you are looking for the right dress that will emphesize all of your assets and make you look like the most beautiful woman EVER on your wedding day, then use these tips the next time you are at the bridal salon.

Hourglass Figure: Choose any dress that emphasizes your small waist. Popular choices are corset gowns, two-piece dresses, and ball gowns with a fitted top.

Pear-Shaped Figure: Full A-line silhouettes, V-neck tops, bateau necklines, scoop-neck tops, and strapless necklines all disguise fuller hips and the pear shaped body types best. These looks also balance torso to bust proportions. For a headpiece that adds slender lines, go with a Chapel length bridal veil.

Apple-Shaped Figure: Princess-line and drop waist wedding dresses are most flattering. You can also try out A-line gowns as well as dresses with plunging necklines. Go heavy on the accessories to draw the eye up.

Petite Brides: Sheath wedding dresses are a great choice as they tend to elongate. Most importantly keep it simple without too much drama or detail.

Tall Brides: Tall girls have all the luck! Almost any style gown will work for a towering bride. But do avoid empire-waist dresses to avoid the "tent-as-wedding-dress" look.

Broad Shouldered: Steer clear of halter and off-the-shoulder necklines, which tend to accentuate the shoulders. Instead, try strapless and scoop necklines. Delicate jewelry works best for broad shouldered brides as well.

Full-Busted: You may need a little help from a corset to get your girls under control. Just make sure you don't tie the corset too tight. You may get extra cleavage you weren't planning on. After that is taken care of, look for dresses with a higher neckline to draw less attention to the chest area.

Full Arms: Look for gowns with off-the-shoulder straps or sheer fabric over the arms. You can also find a flattering formal short jacket to wear over your dress. Also try dresses with a longer sleeve. You'll just have to make sure the sleeves aren't too tight. Also avoid halter tops, they only emphisize your arms.

Let's talk favors. I get asked a lot if they are necessary. The answer is no. They are an additional way of saying Thank You to your guests for attending your wedding. If it is in your budget to give favors, chose a favor that goes with you theme, style, or personality. However, keep in mind that you should only give favors to your guests if 1) they are edible OR 2) they are functional. Occasionally I will see a favor that is neither of these things that goes home with your guests and ends up being thrown away, or is sadly left behind at the reception.

When finding a great favor that works for your wedding and your guests will love the first place I look for ideas is Beau-Coup. They have almost everything and their prices are reasonable. They do have some things that you could make yourself and save some money, so you can use their samples as ideas.

I recently ordered some favors for one of my brides. Some very cute jars of honey with their monogram label on them. Not only did they have the best price, they had the largest selection of designs, plus free shipping for orders over $150 (code: BCFREESHIP). When the honey jars arrived there was a misprint on the labels. I gave them a phone call and the next day the UPS driver was there to pick up the box of misprints and they had a new shipment of corrected honey jars at my door within 7 business days.

So if you are looking for some ideas for favors, check out Beau-Coup.
